DESCRIPTION

If you’d want to start sewing but can’t commit to a series of consecutive weeks, mornings, afternoons, or evenings, or if you don’t want to maintain commuting for several days, This is the most suitable option.

This project is for anyone regardless of level. Completely tailored to your level
Location: This course takes place in the studio, classroom, at The Hithe, Studio 4, Old
Railway Walk. LONDON – SE16 7JA near Rotherhithe Station
Note: This class is available Monday to Friday (10 AM to 6PM, Excluded Weekends and Bank Holidays). Booking in advance is required!

    What is the course about?

    Learn how to make one item at the time, focus on the required skills for that project from start to finish. So whether you want to make a pair of cushions or a dress or start two dresses and complete them at home.

    What is the purpose of the course?

    With lots, little or not experience we work on creating a project of your choice to start from pattern, construction, fitting (if required) and finish a garment.

    What topics will be covered in this class?

    In this class we can cover the following topics but not limit to

  • Lace
  • Boro & Sashiko embroidery
  • Mending
  • Garment alterations
  • Sewing machine
  • Overlocker
  • Drafting a pattern
  • Understanding commercial patterns
  • Zips
  • Pockets
  • Ftting
  • and hand embroidery to your garment. This project is best suited to those who have some sewing experience.
  • Using a pre-existing garment, fighting and adjusting to body shape
  • Cutting out the chosen fabric
  • Understanding mixing materials
  • Hemming a garment
  • Pressing the fabric
  • Easy and embellishing with fastenings
  • What will I achieve?

    By the end of this course you should be able to…
  • Understand the importance of mixing materials, techniques and colours in the same garment
  • Cutting or enlarging hems
  • Modify a pattern in size, style, colour
  • Will I be taught in a particular way, and will there be any work outside of class?

    Through practical demonstrations during the class, Q&A discussions and feedback are actively encouraged. This class will be fully personalised to your likes.

    Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

    You will need to purchase the materials according to the planned project that you will work on for the second session. For the first session.bring one or two projects to mend/alter and your sewing equipment along with a writing pad note.
